SIGIS Proudly Supports Team Illinois Youth Police Camp: Investing in Our Future

At Southern Illinois Gastroenterology and Internal Specialists (SIGIS), we believe that building healthier communities goes beyond medical care—it’s about empowering the next generation. That’s why we are proud to support and sponsor the Illinois State Police’s Team Illinois Youth Police Camp (TIYPC) in Carbondale, Illinois.

The Team Illinois Youth Police Camp is a dynamic initiative developed in collaboration with the Carbondale Police Department, focused on bridging the gap between youth and law enforcement. First launched in 2023, the program has already made a meaningful impact on young lives across the region.

This week-long, overnight camp is designed for youth aged 13 to 17 and offers a life-changing opportunity to learn, grow, and connect. Through mentorship, discipline, teamwork, and skill-building activities, participants are encouraged to challenge themselves, develop confidence, and unlock their full potential.

Building Bridges, Shaping Leaders

TIYPC isn’t just about education—it’s about building trust. By creating a space where law enforcement officers and youth interact positively, the camp fosters understanding, mutual respect, and lasting community relationships. From leadership workshops to physical fitness training and real-world discussions, young people walk away with tools that prepare them for a brighter future.

As a community-focused medical provider, SIGIS is honored to stand behind programs like TIYPC that aim to uplift our youth and inspire lasting change. We believe that strong communities start with strong youth, and initiatives like this create pathways to success for the next generation.

Our Ongoing Commitment

Carbondale has always been home to SIGIS, and supporting meaningful programs in and around the area is at the heart of our mission. Our investment in TIYPC reflects our belief in preventive care—not just in medicine, but in life. Empowered youth are less likely to engage in harmful behaviors and more likely to become the leaders, educators, and changemakers of tomorrow.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Illinois State Police and the Carbondale Police Department for creating this outstanding platform for youth development. SIGIS remains committed to supporting efforts that build stronger, safer, and more unified communities.

Let’s continue working together to inspire, uplift, and invest in our youth—for a better tomorrow.
